Doing Bible memory verses with your toddler might seem hard but I promise it is very possible! Not only that-but fun!

We know that God’s word is powerful! Even at a young age we want to fill our kiddos up with the truth found in the Bible.
The verses listed I chose because I wanted ones that toddlers can understand. Words they know, concepts that are “easier” and focusing on the attributes of God.
But first some things to help start making bible memorization common in your home! In this post I are going to talk about:
- How to start adding Bible memory verses into your kiddos life
- Top Tips for Bible Memorization with a Toddler
Then I have 30 short and easy bible memory verses listed! I’ve also included a few “Challenge” verses if you have a little one up for a challenge!
Make it a Routine
My oldest kiddo has been memorizing Bible verses since she was about 2 ½ years old. We practice our bible verse every morning after breakfast. We have a simple routine of reading our Bible story, practicing our verse and saying a prayer. We may sing a song in there as well! Especially if our bible verse has a song connected to it.
Now, this Bible time each morning is short! Like just five minutes short. Maybe more if my kiddos want to read ahead in our bible book (always, yes!) or have a question. By allowing it to be short I not only am actually keeping my toddlers’ attention but I am also actually doing it each day! No one dreads it, we all enjoy it and so we keep on doing it.Â
Having that Bible time with my kiddos each day is important to me! Sticking to the same routine, at the same time each day and letting it be simple has really helped me to actually follow through daily! Organizing my days not only helps with bible time but in general as a stay-at-home mom!Â
Top Tips for Bible Memorization with Toddlers
- Keep it short! As you will see with the list of verses below, we keep it short! Don’t be afraid to simply not memorize the whole verse. I mean, don’t take things out of context but keep it simple!Â
- Sing! We love verses that songs are based off of. Music is a great tool for memorization. If there is no song based on a verse then make one up! Your kiddos won’t care if it’s perfect. They will just care that it is fun. Â
- Actions! Making up actions for the Bible verse is an easy way to help memorize, its fun to do, and younger children can get involved! My 15 month old can’t say our current Bible verse but he knows most of the actions we made up!Â
- Have it written where it is visible. Have the verse posted where both you and your kiddos can see it is helpful. Reminds you to do it every morning.
- Let it be fun! This is our chance to show our kiddos the joy of the Lord and a love for his word. It’s not a race to memorize a new verse weekly or say it perfectly each time. As we know-its about the heart and not the head knowledge we have.Â

You got this, mama!
